Pastry Chef

Bob Hopkins

Bob's love of baking started early. His mom taught him to make chocolate chip cookies as a kid, and by middle school, he was bringing his own batches to share with friends. After working in a German bakery early in his career, Bob eventually found his way to Southpark Seafood, where he's spent the last 16 years doing exactly what he'd hoped to find: making everything from bread and ice cream to desserts.

His philosophy is refreshingly simple: rather than chasing unusual flavors for the sake of being different, Bob wants to make the very best version of something you already know and love. His German chocolate cake is a perfect example, inspired by a cake he and his wife used to enjoy together at the Cannon Beach Hotel.

After 16 years at Southpark, what means most to Bob are the guests who continue to celebrate life's milestones here. "I really appreciate the guests who have made us their special occasion restaurant for years. I feel honored to hold that place in their hearts."
